Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
