Bills' Disappointing Performance Gives Patriots Route to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many people into the National Football League
This outcome may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they formerly held, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the NFC the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to answer
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had 10 days to get ready but it was still a significant failure produced by one of the NFL's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Containing the league's best rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three crucial turnovers, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to seven points just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the composed, disciplined, balanced Bills we've witnessed this season
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three different eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?
You can pick holes in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Buffalo seems like a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was huge
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns point for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his side to success
The defensive unit is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth runner to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
Although you can debate who 'the best' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record due to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to face. There is a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Showdown
Both squads with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both put up forty points to reach seven and two ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the pair in LA
Both have secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a contest
Both could easily be undefeated as well - particularly the Rams as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before falling to the last kick of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three touchdowns and contributing another forty-two {receiving yards
